I'm heading up to Shady Valley TN sunday may 3 aka "the snake" aka "the playground."
any one who wants to join is welcome.
It's an all day ride and I'll be taking a fairly leasurely pace most of the time. There will be a couple places to play along the way, but it's mosty scenic untill I get to the snake.
I'll be leaving from the Spinx at the corner of 14/11 about 09:30.

I might be up for this ride, as I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'll be on a blue '02 FZ1, cortech tail bag, and I'll be on time if I can make it.

I would love to go but as I am still on my permit I probably shouldn't leave the state. Besides if it rains Saturday afternoon I might clean the carbs again, don't know if I will have them back on by then. I am having idle issues, and burning through way too much fuel.

Hope you guys have a good run!
Before 26 was extended years back, I used to take that rode to visit my Dad's kin folk in Elizabethton many moons ago.

When I, Wifey, and the kids in the late 90's we did a trip up that way me being the ultimate navigator "Who needs a map, I know this road" well I got us lost/turned around. Somewhere around Little Switzerland, Grandfather Mountain, and Linville Canverns. We ended up going through little Switzerland 3 times, finally I got us going in the correct direction of Elizabethton TN and we arrive at our destination. My daughter age 8 with a big smile on her face says: When we go home will we be going thru Switzerland 3 more times!! Then She giggles!!!:blum:
I asked my Wife if she put her upto asking that question, she said Nope, That question was all your daughter's doin and nobody else's.
So the rest of that summer, Family and Friends kept asking me where Little Switzerland was??? ARRRRG! :punish:

Again hope yall have a good ride!

hey, you must live near me. I'm in Lyman.
I'm in Greenville on E. North St. I go down Brushy Creek to Suber to 29 then down 14. It might be 10 or 15 miles. My GF lives off of 14 so I'm there all the time. I'm aiming to be at the store about 9ish. I'll be on the Silver VFR. I look forward to meeting people from this area as I usually have to ride alone for lack of riding partners.

Yeah. It'd be fine if we rode in SC. The radar shows Tenn just covered by rain. I'll be out there too and I guess we'll see.

Wet roads all day long, but no rain. I bet if I hadn't packed complete rain gear it would have poored all day long.

Hey stretch I've got a stip of vinyl missing off my seat I think it was from the third time my front tire washed out.I guess living in the desert for 6 years has made me a little soft. Anyway, thanks for the lesson on wet riding maybe next time we can get out when its dry.

It is a little more fun on dry roads.

Don't feel bad SD, my pucker factor wasn't any better. LOL. I'm glad we found some dry roads and got to play. The ride high got me through the rainy dreary day today. I hate it that we didn't get to ride up to the snake but I feel I would've enjoyed my first time there if it was dry. I'm definately in for the next time you go up there.

Although I didn't get meet up with you folks in the morning, it was nice to meet several folks at the store in the late evening from this forum.

I'll try and get up there for some morning runs to meet you all, or throw a kid on the back and see you up there in the afternoons.

If you'd like we can take the short cut next time.
I made it home from the store in under 3 hours, all country roads.
the long way is twistier (sp) but takes at least 4 hours.

The length didn't bother me, just the rain and wet roads.
