Aww. I can't find my pic on there. I was hoping that he'd gotten me, or the one that got me wasn't him. The guy that photo'd me was out there on Sunday the 5th or 12th.

Turns out, Patrick was the one who took the picture of me about six weeks ago (thanks for the link, Weeknee!). Ironically, I've known Patrick and his wife for almost eight years, now. They were big supporters of the band that I was in several years ago. This is the picture of me that he took (and that Mike was nice enough to locate and tell me about)....

She told me that she waved to Patrick, but looking at the picture, I didn't realize that he snapped it with her hand still off the bar. It becomes obvious when you look at her shadow on the road. :D

Edit - I just got an email from Patrick's wife (Tammy). She pointed out that he got two of me (this one I'm looking at him)...

Hello everyone,

WeKneeDragger thanks for the plug. I enjoyed talking with you yesterday. You have been a topic of conversation between my wife and me many times. We were absolutely amazed to see a Gold Wing layed that far over and dragging.

Terry - Tammy and I have discussed many times how we would like to catch you and Vicki on 178 to get some pics. I was always looking for your yellow Ducati, I didn't know you had a silver one too.

Everyone else - I can be found hanging out on the shoulder of 178 taking pictures, different locations between Bob's Place and the state line. My favorite place is just south of Rocky Bottom. I have good parking, good curves, and good light. The pictures at this location seem to come out best. I am usually out on Sundays between 11:00am and 3:00pm depending on weather and number of riders. Look for the black Ford Ranger - that's me.

Good eye.....I remember that. Vicki and I were pulling onto Hwy 178 from the side road and were wondering why the photographer would be wasting his time and energy to take pictures of us going 5-10 mph. LOL

Desmo, The reason I was taking pictures that don't really make sense is that I was scouting out the best places to get good pictures. We stopped at Bob's Place to hand out business cards. March 8th was the first day on 178. The reason you didn't see my Ranger is because it was in the body shop. I used that day to mark spots that I thought I could use on a regular basis.

To All,

This thread seems to be doing well. Let me make a more formal self introduction. My name is Patrick Welch, owner of PGWelch Photography. My wife Tammy and I live in Marietta, SC. I have been an avid photographer for 25 years. A little over a year ago I wanted to take my photography up to the next level - semi pro. Tammy encouraged me to go ahead with it. I set up pgwelchphotography.com with hopes of selling some of my nature and travel images. With all of the low price/free pictures of that sort of thing, business was less than stellar. April of 2008 we took an eight day vacation to Robbinsville, NC with the purpose of visiting GSMNP and other scenic places in the area. We were camping just off of the southern end of Tail of the Dragon. I had read about the Dragon and Skyway and had been wanting to drive both. I strapped Tammy and everything else tightly in the Ranger for a quick ride on the Dragon on our way to Cades Cove. We stopped at Deals Gap, from there the fun started. Although pokey by motorcycle standards, I pushed the Ranger to the limit until we were slowed down by some Harleys. ZeePhoto got a couple of pics of the Harleys with us behind them. I thought killboy had gotten us, but no luck. This planted a seed for me and decided to try taking my own motorcycle pictures on a fun local road. We ran into Terry and Vicki last fall and I asked him where would be good. He told me 178. I thought about over the winter and decided to go ahead with it when the weather turned nice. March 8th started taking motorcycle pictures. It has been a lot of trial and error. Figuring out what camera settings work best and what spots will provide the best photos. I'm still tuning both. Keep riding and I'll keep taking pictures. I look forward to seeing all of you out there having fun. I'll eventually get that magic picture that you just have to have. If you see me out there and have time, stop for a minute.

Welcome to the forum. Seems I was "caught on film" during your testing phase on March 8th. Best of luck.

That's an awefully big ASSumption to make.......you know us, too! :Benson:

Hi Tammy! Good to see you, again. I guess we first met around 2001 or 2002 when I was with Liquid Mischief.

I think you or Patrick took this picture at Ground Zero....
