looks like it should be a nice day for a ride (high of 84 and sunny). If we leave no later then 06:30 we should be able to get through deals gap before the tourists show up. the ride home will be another story.

rumor has it the roads are so dificult to ride [steep hair pin turns, coal trucks, psychotic wildlife and homicidal hillbillies] that it must have been laid by the devil him self.
it is said that the road will try to kill you

on the upside It should be a beautifull day. high of 80 and sunny :scooter: a good day for a ride down el camino de muerte.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Lack of sleep can prevent you from concentrating and can slow down your reactions. The day I broke my femur on Hwy 215 was after several days of going with very minimal sleep as I skipped sleep to ride my new bike. I was working night shift and only getting 2-4 hours of sleep each night. This is what I did to the poor bike...

http://www.desmodemon.com/deadduc2.jpg

The picture was taken after it was taken to the impound yard. The bike went into one of the drain culverts at the upper section of 215 just south of the BRP.

I got plenty of rest after that accident....between the hospital stay and the short-term disability while waiting for clearance to get back to work.

you realy need to find a new road 215 isn't good for you or your insurance company.
I kid I kid...

They were just under nine years apart, so.....I have over eight years to go. LOL....

Actually, I have never really liked the upper section of 215...even before the accident, and even moreso when riding downhill.

Ok, who's meeting at the store on 178, and what time? Last I heard it was 6:30 AM.

If it takes 4-5 hours to do the dragon, that would be a good lunch stop. Any other plans, or will I be home for dinner?

Yeah, a little humor. I wouldn't waste my time once I get to the good roads since it takes a few hours on the super slab to get there.

As long as I can get to Columbia before it's dark I'll be happy. I'm not a fan of riding at night, and I'm not changing my face shield.

It takes me 45mins to get to the store from my house to the dragon 2hrs 15mins if I take it easy my best time is 1hr 50mins if I don't take it easy:outtahere: I will be there I am doing my pre-flight check to day changing the brake fluids lube the chain check the tire pressure and I am ready but I have got to go to greenville to get a new pair of gloves.

I usually take 2 pairs, 1 waterproof and one with air vents. You're welcome to whichever I'm not wearing.

The weather looks good, so I'm considering wearing the leathers, although I haven't done a long trip with them yet.

I usually can forego the pre-flight if I ride to work, but I haven't done that in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

2h14m to the Dragon from the store? Doesnt sound like I would have much of a chance of being able to keep up with the pace if I followed along.

Lack of sleep can prevent you from concentrating and can slow down your reactions.

Dehydration also has a marked effect. Many riders I have been with do not drink nearly as much water as they should. My bladder fills up pretty fast, but that is good. Makes you stop before you get too tired.

...and be sure the color coming out is light yellow each time. Sorry, had to say it 'cause it's true.

575 for me, fun ride, perfect weather, but I'll need some knobbies before I go ride that road again. Do they come in a 180?

I didn't think we went crazy fast. I tried to keep up with stretch on the tire eater, but the rest was relaxed pace.

and stones, and tree parts, and all kinds of crap. I was expecting some coal too. We definitely saw some of the redneck pickup drivers ;)

The real twisty parts I didn't go as fast as I could, but I didn't think it was that bad. I guess I need to practice on the good roads to know the difference.

787 miles round trip, but that includes commuting to Columbia. We rode from 5:15 AM and I parked it at 11:15 PM. Can't do that every weekend, but I had a great time.
