A friend of mine and I are coming home for a visit next week. We'll be staying in Maggie Valley for a few days and then will be in the upstate. I never really made it to far into the NC mountains when I lived here last (mostly stayed around the Highlands area). Any recommendations for roads to ride on? We're going to do the Gap one day, but need some roads to "warm up" on. After all, we've been riding on Oklahoma roads so curves don't happen all that often. lol. Any good dirtbike riding (trails) areas would be good to know too. We're debating on whether to tote the dirtbikes too.

Hey Phoenix, if you bring the dirt bikes I know a place you can go that's in between the Upstate and Maggie Valley. You've probably heard me talking about it hear...it's called Wayehutta! It's near Western Carolina U in Cullowhee, NC. in the Nantahalla Forest. It's all nice wide trails, some are directional and with conciderable elevation changes. 5 bucks a day and great riding, not to mention the leaf colors are just about perfect up there right now. Here's the link with all the info you should need.

Thanks for the tip goosedog. The weather is looking a little disappointing for the beginning of the week, so we'll probably go there if it rains on Mon/Tue.
