To correct further, you do not have to have a CCP to carry a loaded weapon in your car in NC as long as you have it in plain view, i.e. not concealed. You may also carry openly without a CCP, although nobody does it.

I am a bit surprised about the police being disinterested in the communicated threats. Some cops are less willing to do the paperwork than others. Had this happened in Gaston County, this guy probably would have been at least tormented a bit more before they let him go.

I have a CCP for NC and usually carry one of my handguns while riding just because of idiots like this guy.
