Default Rob OK after going down - Able to ride home!

Yeah, I went down. Fortunately, I walked away with a couple small strawberries (knee and above the ankle). Must have been the tuck and roll technique. Leather jacket, gloves and boots really are magical.

More unbelieveable is that other than a bent shifter and small chunk out of the front ferring the bike survived.

BUT LISTEN, AND THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!!!! especially you younger riders:

I knew it was going to happen. Between work and family right now, my mind was somewhere else. Even riding from my house to Golden Coral to link up my mind kept drifting off. From the beginning of the ride, the bike felt loose in the turns. After a while I realized the problem wasn't the bike being loose, but MY MIND BEING TIGHT. I would zone out on the straight aways and then I would have to re-engage at the turns. BAD NEWS; THE TENSION IN MY BODY WOULD FIGHT THE BIKE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE TURN.

I became more and more over-cautious (paranoid) through every turn. And was slowing down more and more every time.

What happened at CRASH TIME - Coming into the turn I finally mentally gave up on the ride. There was a side road off the out side of the turn and went to pull out of the turn and take the side road to stop. I DID NOT SEE THE GRAVEL TRIANGLE BETWEEN ME AND THE ROAD. """HELLO DOLLY"""

So, we always say know your abilities. But, also remember outside factors like rain, traffic, and YOUR STATE OF MIND can diminish your daily caabilities. There will always be other rides and OTHER DAYS.

"In order to cover your buddies on your left and right, you first have to cover yourself". Riding is the same, The group will understand if you choose to stand down on any given day, at any given time.

Look, I can laugh this one off. It's been a few years since I've spilled one (1st one on asphalt) and I walked away. But, you guys have some long lives left in you and just BE SAFE.

See you soon!
