I got the Z1 back together and took her for a spin - runs like a top! However, chance of rain is back up so I'm going to leave the cleaned, polished and waxed Z1 in the dry garage... will be taking the Beemer. I think Larry and Rod are riding. We're leaving from the Golden Corral on Ramsey St, Fayetteville at 0800 for anyone that wants to join us.

Let's RIDE!

Thumbs up Re: Classic M/C Show, 2 May

Guys,
Another fun filled adventure, weather unsure but with it being so overcast the temps were held in check....With a fine breakfast on board three intrepid riders struck out for a place never been before......route never run before, and prolly not to be run again soon.....who wants a two lane backwoods road without defined passing lanes....this area wasn't that heavily traveled....even the route back, more backwood roads were double laned....unusual.....
The event, found many varied bikes....loads of trumpets.....even saw a triple that the owner swore was a barn find in very good shape......most marques wwere covered well even several old Indians...that ran remarkably good and were ridden to the show.....there was a category that would have befitted our long winded bretheren down east of us....there was a honda with a homemade front suspension and a single shock up front......prolly the most outlandish thing we saw wasn't even in the show....an electric green CBX....CHOPPED....our own lonsome George Dilloway would have gone into shock! There was a cremey white single cyl BMW that had Larry's attention.
Of note there was a bike few have seen few running...an RE5 from Suzi , a rotary motored beast.....many Gzzi represented....shame they aren't in NC they could have done this event easily.....The classic old Hondas were there
en-mass....Next year there will be two other Japanese bikes representing for sure one a Z1-900 and a GS850GN will be there...The folks from the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club/ www.vjmc.org were set up and had avery nice display of Yamaha bikes.....I picked up a membership card there..... and coming fast the Mid Ohio event featuring Classic Cycle Days event....
This one I look forward to....til our next one gear up and come with us....

I ended up getting back from my road trip around 8:30 Friday night and slept in to around 9:30 am. Needless to say, I did not bother making it to this. Sorry guys.

I DID get my forks put back in the track bike before I took the wife out to dinner for our anniversay....... That Ohlins upgrade should be nice on the track....

Turned out to be a great event. Larry, Rod and I cruised over - took us a little longer than planned. Got there and immediately ran into old friends Ron and wife Joan from Pinehurst. They'd ridden their Electra Glide Ultra Classic over.
And there was a much bigger turn out than I'd expected - several real old Harleys, an Indian and a couple other extent makes; lots of beautiful Triumphs, 3 Norton Commandos and other assorted British iron like Enfields and BSAs; a few BMWs and lots of neat old Jap bikes - mostly Hondas, and a few of them cafed out nicely.
And it never rained a drop! If I'd ridden the Z1 it would have poured I'm sure.
Then we a bit twistier route back to Fayetteville. It was a great day - we got to put it on the calendar for next year.

Benzino - did you make it?

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio is coming up in July - we're going! Anyone else?

Let's RIDE!
