just got back from Cali...
Unfortunately I didn't have a motorcycle out there
It would sure be awesome to ride there. Road conditions in many places are no better than ours, but the back roads seemed to be a little better. You rarely, if ever, need to worry about carrying rain gear. I was a bit surprised, and impressed, that most people wore quite a bit of gear, more-so than you see here.
I got to drive Mullholland Highway (in my Camry rental... ) and it would be an amazing ride on a bike! Not so different than many of the NC mtn roads, but it just keeps going and going, the scenery is awesome, and there are other roads around it that would be great too.
Hope to get back out there someday, with a bike, and be able to ride that road, along with more of Highway 1, the PHC
FYI: Watch out for sand on the inside of MH at milemarker 4.2. There was a bike that had been down, and the gastank was a little ways from the bike Hope whoever it was is OK. I warned a guy on an 1198 about it when we got to the top.
