Another great March Moto Mud Madness in the history books. Super Jim and I rode up Wednesday to brother Mike's in Waynesville for the night. After a big breakfast we headed to Tellico Plains, TN for MMMM but decided to take a side trip to Deals Gap. Jim and I were the fastest bikes on the Tail of the Dragon... of course we were the ONLY bikes on the Dragon... rain and cool temps chased others away. Then set up camp in the rain at MMMM. A bunch of us started the Cherokee Challenge on Friday but Matt's bike broke about 45 miles into the 170 mile ride and that ended the ride. Big meeting at Hardees Saturday morning. Mike and Jim did an easy ride on dirt and twisties all the way to Deals Gap and back while Al, Steve, Rick and I finished the Cherokee Challenge at a nice, fun pace. It was down to about 32 degrees on top of the mountain early but then warmed up nicely. We were back in time to check out the hill climb, GS Giants and other competition - see video - some awesome riders. Sunday morning we packed up tents. Jim led us out a nice, twisty route to Hwy 64 and then a mix of nice roads and interstate back to Fayetteville. This was a shake down ride for the Suzuki DR-GT-GS-GL 650 in prep for the Continental Divide Ride in August. Worked great on interstate, back roads and dirt. See
