Default BMW Rally at Natural Bridge, VA

Two weekends before the motocycle trip to the NC mountains and Ironhorse Campground, Jim from Fayetteville and I met up with the Pennsylvania crew at the Morton's BMW Rally in Natural Bridge, VA. We camped out at the KOA campground. Mortons passed out several twisty and scenic GPS routes to attendees. Dale (BMW GS650), George (BMW R1200GS), Mike (R1200GS) and Troy (BMW 450GS) from Pennslvania, and Jim and I (both on Suzuki DR650s - the oddballs) did the Dual Sport Route. Dick Kliem (KLR650) and a couple other guys joined us. It was a rainy, wet, muddy weekend. But we did over 200 miles on dirt trails and roads, deadends, and tight, twisty paved (and wet) roads. Had a blast! Saturday night we attended the dinner at a plush hotel in Natural Bridge. Great buffet! And an exec from BMW USA gave a great presentation on BMW's past, present and future. He had a good sense of humor concerning some of the weird stuff that BMW does. Afterwards, Mortons gave away a bunch of door prizes. A couple of our crew won. Dale got a $150 gift certificate and Mike got a set of Denali driving lights. Did I say we had a blast??? Two great weekends of camping, friends, and riding in a row! See pics below...

THE END... of this adventure anyway. And now Jim, Dale, a couple others and I are planning on doing the Colorado and Utah portion of the TransAmerica Trail in August. And then there's the AMA Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio in July, and the BMW Rally in Pennsylvania... (not bad for a bunch of posers I guess.)
