JB weld wouldn't hold up to the vibrations of the engine as well as epoxy either, that is something worth considering.
Whatever you do, it has to pass Tech inspection to get on the track so it better to look clean. Sometimes they like to snivel about the smallest things.
JB Weld could hold up with Space Shuttle tiles! I would apply the stuff from the inside atop the stripped drain screw. It would appear normal from the outside and have no problem passing tech (plus the fairing covers it anyway).
