road report, Hwy 97 along Wateree Lake

I rode northbound on Hwy 97 today, came upon some pickups with trailers in my lane coming toward me, about 1/2 mile south of Hwy97 Kickstands. They were avoiding a large pot hole, about 8' in diameter in the middle of the southbound lane. That hole wasn't there last weekend, at most just a rough patch.

So if you're planning to ride that way in the near future, be careful.

Wateree Lake was over the top, too. The depth at the dam is 100'. Reported at about 7pm Saturday it was 101.4', expected to drop below 100' by 3am Monday. On Lake Shore Rd there were a couple of low points where the water was close to the pavement. Lake Rd on the west side doesn't get quite that close to the lake.

I think we've had enough rain for a little while.
