Default 1800 Cruise Control

Greetings. I just bought an '08 GL1800 that only had 150 miles on it. I now have several hundred miles, and here is my situation that perhaps you could help me with. When I am cruising and tap the "set" button for cruise control, the bike slows down about 5-10 mph and then the cruise kicks in and the bike picks up speed. So, if I am traveling at 60 and tap the "Set" button, the bike will slow down to 55 or 50 (approximately) before cruise takes effect. Once engaged, though, she holds set speed and can be adjusted up or down.

On my car, cruise control maintains the speed at which you set it. Shouldn't the Gold Wing cruise control do the same thing? Any suggestions?
