Default Tire Wear Question

Hey you sport bike guys. I've got a question for you about tires. This new Harley I bought (XR1200) came with Dunlop Qualifier tires, 180/55ZR17. I know this is a soft, grippy tire, and Harley put it on there to make the bike handle as best as it could. But, we're only getting 1800 - 3000 miles out of the rear tires. I was wondering what kind of mileage this tire should get on a bike for which it is designed? I personally have 1650 miles on mine and had a puncture last Sunday. Upon inspection I discovered that the tire is really thin in the middle, so not surprised that something sharp could have penetrated the tire. And, no I haven't been doing burn-outs at the Dam Bar and Grill. Wouldn't know where to start
